255 Indians Infected With Coronavirus
New Delhi:
At least 276 Indians, including 255 in Iran, 12 in the UAE and 5 in Italy, were infected with coronavirus abroad, the government told the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
Iran is one of the countries most affected by the coronavirus epidemic and the government has been trying to get back stranded Indians there. More than 700 people have died in Iran from the disease and about 14,000 cases have been identified.
Officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Tuesday that they could not confirm whether more than 250 Indians in Iran tested positive for novel coronavirus, but acknowledged that they were aware of the fact that such a list of people was being circulated.
